Vertical Gardening...Growing Plants In Mid-air?

Vertical Gardening IS NOT a new extreme sport..dude. Ahh, to dream though; a rough and tumble experience fueled by an intense 20,000 foot aerial free-fall dominated by a competitive task like designing, planting and prepping (for retail sale) a 5 inch ceramic potter stuffed with tender, new 'silver' Tidal Wave Petunias and cut-and-come-again Zinnias.

This would definitely be taking gardening to a whole new level and sounds kind of fun. No, Vertical Gardening is exactly what the name suggests; growing flowers/ vegetables in an up and down direction - rather than the traditional side-to-side method used over the past several thousand years. There are many methods currently being used and many more tested daily. Read More.

Up Little Dry Creek, Down Big Dry Creek

Little Dry Creek to Big Dry Creek is a great ride. Big Dry was longer than I'd anticipated, next time I'll bring more power bars. Definitely a 4 star ride.....

Walkin' in the rain...

I'm sloshimg along a small portion of the High Line Canal (just northeast of Bible Park) I havn't seen since I was a kid. We used to ride BMX bikes through here on way to a field at Iliff & Quebec with a big dirt bike jump. The jump is long gone. I think the landowner plowed the jump to keep little dudes off his land! It was only there for a few summers. Anyway, this section of the trail is between Yale & Iliff. Next I'm off to Bible park to meet my friend Tracy, a die-hard "traily" like myself, to see if we can scout out the resident pack of coyotes and their newly born pups.

A Late Night On The Canal Trail

A couple of nights ago I decided to follow Little's Creek trail from old downtown Littleton [heading west] towards the South Platte River. Once I reached the Platte I enjoyed cruising north for a couple of miles or so by way of the Mary Carter Greenway [which runs from E-470 to the Denver city line (Hampden Ave).

Little's Creek & South Platte River Trail (Mary Carter Greenway) Intersection

I was heading for the Big Dry Creek Trail. A place I had briefly explored weeks earlier and could not wait to get back with time to truly appreciate the space and all that surrounds it. I followed Big Dry Creek east for 4.7 miles where I was hoping to connect with the High Line Canal on the far southwest edge of Greenwood Village. With the help of some friendly street signs I was able to make the connection between the two trails with ease. Although both trails nearly connect there is a 3-4 block gap that exists but is easily navigated. Big Dry Creek trail ends roughly at Powers Ave & Washington Street (map below) just east of Brookridge Park and Littleton High School.

The Big Dry Creek Trail runs 4.7 miles from the South Platte River (Mary Carter Greenway) to The Highline Canal at/ near Clarkson and Orchard in Greenwood Village.
